Repairs and restoration
Repairs that leave the roof looking like itself
We trace the leak before we cut anything, repair with the roof's own material and write down what we found.

What we repair
Common repairs on mountain roofs
Flashings and valleys
The usual leak source: chimneys, dormers, walls and valleys.
Slate repair and matching
Broken slates replaced with salvage or a matched stone.
Seams and panels
Open seams, loose clips and damaged panels in copper or metal.
Snow guards and gutters
Bent rails, torn gutters and failed clips after a heavy winter.
Ice dams
Fix the cause: air leaks, insulation and ventilation.
Restoration
Old roofs worth saving, with a written record of what to expect.
How we find a leak
Four steps before the first cut
- 01
Step 1: Ask where and when
Which room, which weather, which side of the house.
- 02
Step 2: Attic and ceiling
Moisture, stains and daylight, photographed.
- 03
Step 3: The roof, in person
Up on the roof with a harness and a rope, or from the ground with a drone.
- 04
Step 4: The written finding
What leaked, what we propose and what it will not fix.
Questions
About leaks and repairs
Can you fix a leak in winter?
We can make a roof safe and watertight when the weather allows, and we say plainly when the permanent repair has to wait for spring.
Is it a repair or a re-roof?
We show you photos and say which, with the reasoning. A repair is the better choice when the roof is sound.
Do you work on roofs you didn't build?
Yes. We will tell you what we find, even when it is somebody else's work.
Will the repair match?
Metal weathers, so a new patch can look different at first. For slate and copper we match the stone or the temper and tell you how it will settle.
Show us where it drips
Text a photo or call the office. We will tell you what we need to see.
